At T.E.N.D.E.R. Services, our mission is to transform neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across Canada into compassionate, relationship-based, and trauma-informed environments — for the well-being of premature infants, their families, and the healthcare professionals who care for them every day.
We support healthcare professionals and institutions in improving the quality of care for premature and medically fragile term infants. Our work is grounded in evidence-based practices shaped by the philosophy of trauma-informed, developmental care.
Through consultation, training, coaching, and implementation support, we help make trauma-informed care a reality in neonatal and perinatal settings.
Our clients share a common goal: to elevate the quality of care for premature and sick term infants using evidence-based, trauma-informed, developmental practices.

Whether you are seeking unit-wide transformation or individual professional development, we are here to support you in your journey.
Our work builds on decades of clinical leadership in Quebec, where the first developmental care training programs were created by our founding partners (Isabelle Milette & another partner) in the 1990s. Their efforts shaped a province-wide movement to recognize premature infants as capable communicators in need of protection, not just patients. Over time, these programs expanded to include clinical examination of the newborn and institutional implementation of trauma-informed, developmental care.
To date, we’ve trained over 10,000 healthcare professionals across more than 30 health centres in Quebec, Ontario, and beyond. Our team has helped author the first international guideline and national leading practice for implementing trauma-informed developmental care — and continues to collaborate on new knowledge translation tools and education initiatives.
In 2022, we expanded into English Canada and deepened our commitment to trauma-informed care with the arrival of a new partner, Chantel Morin, a nurse educator and neonatal consultant. Together, we now offer bilingual programming and support across a growing national and international network.
