Isabelle Milette is a nationally recognized neonatal nurse practitioner and a pioneer in trauma-informed, developmental care in Canada. She is the first Canadian certified by the NANN as a Developmental Care Specialist & by Caring Essentials Collaborative as a Trauma-Informed Professional. She also is the first professional in Quebec to become a certified NIDCAP professional.
With over two decades of experience across leading academic hospitals, Isabelle has championed evidence-based neuroprotective care, and trained Canada’s largest cohort of developmental care leaders. Her advocacy role brought her to multiple national tables and led the development of national guidelines, clinical standards, leading practices and position statements. Her work has earned her the Florence Prize for care excellence from the OIIQ.
Isabelle brings deep clinical expertise, research insight, and visionary leadership to her mission: transforming NICUs into nurturing, trauma-informed environments where babies, families, and healthcare professionals can thrive.
She is a former NICU parent.
Chantel Morin is a Master's-prepared clinical nurse educator and trauma-informed care specialist with over 20 years of experience in neonatal, pediatric, and perinatal care. Deeply committed to improving outcomes for late preterm infants and their families, she brings particular expertise in supporting community-based hospitals where resources may be limited but the potential for impact is great.
In her current role Chantel leads clinical education, accreditation readiness, and system-level quality improvement across NICU, family birthing, and pediatric units. She is known for championing neuroprotective, family-centered practices—such as Eat, Sleep, Console—and helping frontline teams translate evidence into action.
As a certified Developmental Care Specialist and Trauma-Informed Professional, and a director with the Canadian Association of Neonatal Nurses, Chantel advocates for relational, developmentally appropriate care—especially in smaller centers often overlooked in system-wide initiatives.
She is a former NICU parent and preemie herself.
