Isabelle Milette

Clinical Innovation, Operations, Education & Finance Lead

Isabelle Milette is a nationally recognized neonatal nurse practitioner and a pioneer in trauma-informed, developmental care in Canada. She is the first Canadian certified by the NANN as a Developmental Care Specialist & by Caring Essentials Collaborative as a Trauma-Informed Professional. She also is the first professional in Quebec to become a certified NIDCAP professional.

With over two decades of experience across leading academic hospitals, Isabelle has championed evidence-based neuroprotective care, and trained Canada’s largest cohort of developmental care leaders. Her advocacy role brought her to multiple national tables and led the development of national guidelines, clinical standards, leading practices and position statements. Her work has earned her the Florence Prize for care excellence from the OIIQ.

Isabelle brings deep clinical expertise, research insight, and visionary leadership to her mission: transforming NICUs into nurturing, trauma-informed environments where babies, families, and healthcare professionals can thrive.

She is a former NICU parent.

Chantel Morin

Communications, Logistics, Learning & Program Strategist

Chantel Morin is a master’s-prepared nurse educator, trauma-informed developmental care specialist, author, and speaker with more than 20 years of experience across neonatal, pediatric, perinatal, clinical education, and quality-improvement settings. She is a certified Developmental Care Specialist and Trauma-Informed Professional with a strong focus on neuroprotective, family-centred care and translating evidence into everyday clinical practice.

Throughout her career, Chantel has led and supported education, accreditation, practice-change, and quality-improvement initiatives, and has contributed to neonatal education and advocacy through organizations including CANN, CAPWHN, CPBF, and WAIMH. She is also a co-author of two chapters in the third edition of Transformative Nursing and Interdisciplinary Care in the NICU: Trauma-Informed, Age-Appropriate Care.

Chantel is the author of Trauma-Informed Me: Finding My Light, a memoir exploring prematurity, loss, caregiving, nursing, burnout, identity, and healing through both lived experience and a trauma-informed lens.

She was born at 27 weeks’ gestation and is a former NICU parent.
